attic -to- cathedral ceiling

hi,

I am interested in converting my attic space to a cathedral ceiling. Can anyone refer me to information, articles, pitfalls, concerns, successes, or any other info about this topic.

thanks

This is a major structural change if you remove the ceiling/attic floor joists. If you just want to strip the ceiling and move it to the underside of the rafters, leaving the joists, it is more straightforward.
Get an engineer or very experienced builder to look at what you are proposing. The work may be DIY, the evaluation probably is not.

Greetings,

If you find that you can do this, I can tell you how to maximize the energy savings using radiant barrier insulation.

You have not really given us enough information for a valid reply.
With what you gave us most replys would be negative. We would need to know what style of roof you have, rafters or trusses, how high between the top of the ceiling and the peak, how long in length would the catherdral ceiling be, how wide, etc.
These are all areas that need to be looked at. Thanks,
