Basement Insulation

My basement has insulation already nailed to the cement wall. Don't know the R rating, but it has white plastic sheet over the fiber glass. Question is do I take down the insulation and then build my 2x4 wall or do I leave the insulation on and build the wall against it. I heard insulation loses its R rating when compressed so I'm at a lost on what to do.

Madd_Error,

If you have no moisture issues, leave it alone, no need to add more time and money to this if you don't need to. I would place a 2x4 wall with W/T bottom plate approx. 1" away from it and then complete your walls as you desire. Do not directly the wood directly against the insulation.

Hope this helps!
