W/T - Please explain

Hi all.

After reading through past discussions here, I keep seeing references to W/T plates and lumber. After doing a Google search I can find no references to it anywhere.

Could someone please explain what it is?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

I believe a W/T plate is a water treated base board for the stud wall. i.e. a treated 2X4...

Thanks Nathan.

So it's like pressure treated lumber only different and used for soul-plates in damp installs?

That sounds great as I'd love to avoid metal studs.

Is it availabel at Home Depot and Lowes?

Thanks.

Same as pressure treated lumber I believe... Basically treated lumber that won't get rotted out from dampness...
