in-wall humidity probe

Hello,

I am finishing my basement and I have an idea to wire a few basic humidity probes at the foundation wall before covering it with insulation, plastic, and drywall. Does anyone know of an inexpensive wired remote-probe sensor I could use for this permanent installation? All I could find is either $$$ industrial systems or battery operated wireless gadgets. Thanks.

mbi,

I could only find those similar to this and you're right they are expensive...why invest in this anyway? Seems to be somewhat a waste of money depending on how you are finishing your basement i.e. any concrete sealers, then vapor barrier on walls. You're not going to be measuring that much and it will surely be within normal limits depending on your heating/cooling issues. In addition to a dehumidifier that is a stand alone or the use of your A/C unit.
