basement waterproofing

I'm am getting water in my basement, much of it appears to be coming in from the area where the wall and floor meet. I'm am using Dryloc on my basement walls. When purchasing the Dryloc, I saw the Dryloc Fast Plug product. I would like to use that in the space where the wall and floor met. Can I safely use that product to fill in that space all around the basement or does that area need to be free so it can expand and contract?

I don't think that Drylok will resolve your issue as this is more severe than just water coming through walls.

Boxing basement windows

I'm finishing my basement, and a little stumped as to the best way to finish around the foundation windows. They are standard Anderson foundation windows, about 14Hx32W set right at the top of a 10 inch poured wall. the new interior wall is an inch inside the concrete wall and I will be putting up a suspended ceiling. I will need to build out the window about 5 or 6 inches after the drywall. The finished ceiling should be right about even with the top of the window. Any ideas or tips will be apprieciated. The wood framing for a few of my basement window wells are -- well -- rotting. The actual windows are on hinges that swing into the basement. The hinges and locks are mounted onto the wooden window frame. (2" x 10'' x 42" long and 2" x 10" x 22" in height.) The house was built in 1916, so I feel it is now time to rebuild some things. The basement walls are poured. Basically I plan on taking out the old, using as templates and put in new. These boxes are rotted and falling out. Since this is old contrete, should I drill or glue? How should I attach the 2 x 10 window framing to the walls and what should I seal them with? (I am assuming I will need to use treated lumber)Read More
