Wet Basement
NH resident with thawing snow/rain flooding of garage under house that leads into living portion of basement of a split entry home. First time since house built in '76. Cracks in garage floor seeping water is culprit. Having to push water out hourly. Need immediate solution, will work on permanet solution later. Is rental of sump pump answer? One inch of water per hour on floor when it rains, if not pushed out on hourly basis, will start to come into living area - and it's been raining for 2 days...

Margaret Anne,
Sump pump may allow more than an inch to form in the garage. You better seek some help to do an on site reivew as to what can be done. This sounds like a mess!
Good luck!

wet garage/basement etc.
Thanks for reply, but what would onsite inspection do for an immediate solution. Still hourly need to push water out. Utility pump didn't work related to less than inch puddling/pooling. Some way to make utility pump sensitive to less than an inch?? Need to stop water from coming in to finish portion of basement.

Margaret,
The reason I suggested someone coming out to "look" at it, is there may be something there that we cannot see over the internet that could be done to help in this situation. If you haven't done this, then asking us to provide some relief from all this water is useless. I could suggest mops and buckets, wet/dry vac but you need someone to see what you have and how it might best be taken care of immediately.
What you need to do is maybe put in a sump basket and then pump out this water. Seek a professional to see what is going on and how to resolve it.
Good Luck!

What about something called a roof pump. It is used on flat roofs to remove puddling before starting work. Can't remember much else about them (flow capacity, etc), but it might be available at a rental center.
