I-Beam Covering

Hello I am finishing my basement and I am trying to keep The I-Beam visible. My wife and I want to paint it and then put a saying on it on one side and a picrure on the otehr. The only problem is where the beam meets the wall. My drywall only covers around the outside of the beam, where the beam is thin in the middle its all open through the wall. How do I cover this. I have already drwalled and primed. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Use construction adhesive to attach wooden strips to the beam and install sheetrock onto them.

water copper pipe through holes in ceiling joists?

I wonder if I can run copper pipes through holes drilled perpendicular through ceiling joists in a basement. If I remember correctly, holes drilled through ceiling joists for cables must be at least 2 inches from the joists' bottom surfaces. I dont know if the same applies to copper pipes. Thanks in advance.

Drywall over I-Beams

I am planning on finishing my basement and have a question about how to drywall over my I-beam that is in the basement. I don't want to frame it in because of headroom. Someone mentioned using Liquid Nails to fasten 2X4's in the gap of the I-Beam and screwing the drywall into those 2X4's. Then glueing the drywall to the bottom of the beam. The 2X4's fit into the gap of the beams and the idea seemed to make sense to me, I am looking for more input of experienced people. Thanx
