Question Noisy Sump Pump

One last question, my sump pump, that runs alot in the spring, is next to a family room we use alot. The constant noise of the water flowing and the pump turning on becomes annoying. It is a new submerged, top of the line pump, (not a pedastal), but it is still too loud. I am thinking about building a wood cover and line it with sound insulation.....any thoughts, ideas or problems this could cause? Any other ideas besides turning the TV louder? Thanks, Randy

Randy,

The issue may be the sound is transferring through your attachment locations. Pumps are going to provide some sound but if you are experiencing above normal levels, I would suggest looking into how discharge pipes are installed. If they are done to the walls adjacent to your family room, you may want to install some foam or rubber between the stap and wood. See if this helps.

Good Luck!

If you ask me, there is nothing sweeter than the sound of a sump pump going during a rain storm. I get real nervous when I don't hear mine when it's raining cats and dogs!
