Question Best Flooring for a Basement

We are refinishing a walk out basement. It has a flat concrete slab and we will have a bedroom, bath, enterainment area and a children's play area. What is the best flooring option. We considered a wood laminate (non glue) but because of the sump pump, were advised against it. Can some one help us with suggestions?

Cement paint, or tile would be the two best options.

What kind of tile? Laminate, ceramic? Why would that be the best? Also, with the ceramic paint, will it look professional enough with a proffessionally refinishd space?

You can use ceramic tile (better) or vinyl tile. Ceramic tile is permanent, vinyl tiles may come loose over the years.

Cement paint looks very nice, and is cheap, quick and easy. Use two coats minimum. Make sure to use a high-quality paint designed for basement ort garage floors. Benjamin Moore is my personal favorite.

Another paint option is to paint one color, then go back and tape down a grid pattern, and paint evey other square a second color, kind of a tile look on a paint budget.
