Brick basement repair and waterproofing

Hi

I have a house with an old mostly brick walled basement. IT has a lot of deteriorating parging. I want to replace the parging and use drylok to seal it but I wanted to know if anyone had any tips. Some of the bricks need repointing, but since it is kind of a headache, can i just parge over them instead of repointing? Should I repoint and then parge? UGL indicated that I should repoint and then apply drylok directly to the brick. Can I do that and then parge over the drylok-ed brick? I doin't have any active leaks or anything, but i want to improve the moisture barrier down there, it is somewhat damp, and make it look a bit better. Basically, any tips on how to work on an old brick basement would be appreciated.

thanks

should this go in the basements forum instead?

if so, please feel free to move it, or I can repost there...

thanks
