Access to air duct damper controls...
As part of my basement redo - I have an area where the airducts run across the basement ceiling leaving about 6.5 feet of clearance. The previous owner had used drywall - which I like - but had of course covered up all the air duct damper levers.
Although I'm open to the concept of a drop or modular ceiling, I don't think I can afford to lose any additional height. So, unless someone knows about a good looking modular ceiling system that doesn't require dropping the ceiling - my only other option seems to be drywall.
If I use drywall, does anyone know of any small access covers/or hole caps that I can install in the drywall over each damper control lever to allow access to the dampers every once in awhile?

edbreyer,
I think this is what you need...
http://www.calwalgypsumsupply.com/accesspanels.html (plastic ones work great and are paintable!)

You can check Home Depot but you amy also want to check with your local Drywall Retailer.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Doug!
I will probably use one of the access doors you cited. I had thought maybe there was some sort of round disk type of cover that just slid into a hole I could cut through the drywall below each duct damper control - but I'm probably looking for a product that doesn't exist.

edbreyer,
You're very welcome. I have not seen any round type panels available but as you can tell, there is variety in sizes of the ones I provided.
Hope they helped!

can do
Look over in the electric dept at home depot and lowes. There are small frames that go in a wall and you just put a blank cover plate on them with 2 screws. It will be like just a blank outlet box in size. Most of the time after a hvac unit is set and the dampers set You dont go back to them. If you do have to change the air around would do it by opening or closeing down a register or two.
