Water dripping from basement ceiling

I few days ago a guest bathroom was flooded by accident. All the water quickly trickled down to the basement and water started dripping from the basement ceiling. I know have all these lines accross the basement' ceiling and the paint is coming off little by little.

Can you provide any suggestions on how to proceed?? Should I get a contractor right away to get an estimate and get it fixed? or How can I put together a plan of attack and tackle this challenge solo?

Thanx,

VA2020,

I would open up a hole and allow for more ventilation to assist in drying the area out. If this means a large area, based on what or how huch was leaking. If the ceiling has insulation, remove all that was wet and discard.

This may require a Drywaller to come in and remove, install new and tape if you feel uneasy about doing this, especially if you want professional results.

Hope this helps!
