engieered truss versus site built

I know that an engineered roof truss assembled at a factory and delivered to the construction site is a special item designed as a whole. What about the old build the rafter and joist arrangement for construction? Is the built on site method less flexible for future modification or does the restriction on modification to the structural combination of joists and rafters apply?

Truss

From what I have run into in the past.Id say the old built on site rafter and joist can be worked on and modified a lot better than a new truss. For one thing this way you would be working with 2x6 or 2x8 rather than the 2x4 that the factory truss is made out of. If you cut one of them you change the whole load on it. ED

My .02 cents
