cleaning up fiberglass insulation
im remodeling my basement and there's some rigid fiberglass insulations that's broken apart and is on the floor and on some of the walls.
ive been cutting this fiberglass to put between walls for soundproofing as well as covering it with fabric to make "baffles" im converting my basement into a recording studio space.
its not a lot but its a decent amount, im scared its gotten airborne and will contaminate my heating/cooling system and/or contaminate the basement permanently.
is this a legitimate concern? also whats the best way to clean the insulation off the carpet and walls?
when i remodeled about 2 years ago the same thing happened with the insulation, and i vacuumed it up [picked up the larger pieces by hand] and im assuming that was ok, because nobody got sick in my home, and we've had the AC ducts cleaned a few times since then and everything appears to be working fine.
should i look into to getting it tested for contamination?

Some worry, not necessarily a bad thing, at least you are thinking. I doubt there is anything about which to be concerned. The solid insulation does not create loose fibers in the same manner as the batts. Even at that, the particles will settle to the floor and can be removed.

actually ive noticed that in some spots in the basement there is a very small amount of fiberglass dust/particles on some furniture and on some of the instruments i have in the basement [mostly the drums]
is this something to be concerned about?

Yeah, clean it up. Don't let it get on the drums considering how sweaty drummers get. I am also making my 300 Sq. foot basement into a practice and recording area. Got any interesting suggestions? I'm Don.Carolan@comcast.net.
