Basement Subfloor sealing

I have a 9 year old house with an unfinished basement. The floor is not concrete due to the fact that the builder felt the soil was not stable enough. Instead I have some type of chipboard subfloor with a crawl space underneath. The dirt underneath the subfloor is covered with black Poly, although some of the dirt is still exposed. I due have a Radon problem and have been trying some things before I search for a Radon Mitigater. I have sealed around the basement where the floor meets the concrete walls and where the plumbing goes beneath the floor and have improved the hatch accesses in the subfloor for the crawl space and sump pump. I plan on sealing the cement walls with a product such as RadonLoc.

Is there a sealent that I can use on my subfloor for moisture/Radon or would laying Linouleum with the 1/4" board underlayment be better? I haven't noticed a moisture problem at this time.

Thanks,

What you have is called a "structural wood floor" and what you called "chipboard" is not chipboard, but "Oriented Strand Board" (OSB). It is common to only cover 80% of the dirt with plastic and leave 20% uncovered (not really sure why).

The best radon mitigation for you would probably be to put in two subfloor vents, on opposite sides of the basement. One to draw in fresh air and one to expell subfloor air. A small electric fan is installed in-line in the output vent.

Talk to a radon mitigation company. This should be pretty simple to install. And it will not only mitigate radon but will also combat mold and mildew.
