Owens Corning Basement Finishing Systems

Does anyone have any feedback on the Owens Corning Basement Finishing Systems? It seems like a great idea however it is pretty expensive.

Please advise....any input is welcome.

We had them bid.

We had them bid on our basement. Extremely expensive, though I agree the system is pretty interesting. Basically it's a set of insulated office-cube panels and a dropped ceiling. Very quick to install, very clean as well. Biggest downsides in my opinion are the look - I think it looks very commercial, and the cost. We also found there were lots of 'extras' our local dealer didn't want to deal with, like finishing off the staircase.

As a point of reference, we decided to traditionally finish our basement - 2x4 studs, plywood subfloor, blueboard and skimcoat plaster walls and ceiling. It

Basement

Did you go to Owens Corning www and look at Basement solution. The other day on TV said walls and ceiling installed about $40.00 per sq ft lights and all. Wood floor down about $6.00 per foot. it looked good. Also you can pop out the wall to change anything later on ED

I agree with the opinion that it looks like an office cube when it's finished, and it's way pricey. Round these parts anyway, I regularly do complete additions to existing homes in the traditional methods, 2"x6" walls, drywall, etc, for about $40 a s/f finished ready to move furniture in. Just My $.02 worth.

Yeah I know, a fella could make a pile o $$ out there, but I doubt you can live in 4 bdrm, 1-1/2 bath home, with full bsmt for under $400 a month like you can here. Everything is relative, the more $$ you can make in an area, the more it cost to live there.

Land prices are rising round these parts too, depending on the location, but good buys can be found.

Ed what part of the Sunshine state do you hail from? I used to live down in Ft Walton Beach, up in the panhandle. This was in the early 80's, you could buy pristine land, 5-10 miles from the coast for a song, $50 down & $50 a month. Wish I'd bought up a bunch of it, was down there about 7 yrs ago & the place had exploded with growth.
