permit issues

I not quite sure how to proceed with this one. I pulled a permit for my full basement finish. Time passed.....and passed....and passed. I'm making progress, but am in no hurry. Had the inspector over for rough in initially and he said I needed to do a couple of more things but he did sign off a couple. More time passed. Did electrical, elec rough in was signed off. Now my problem. I am in the process of insulating and will be ready for the final rough in for basement, however it has been about 1 1/2 years since he was here last (expired permit). Is there some sort of extension I can get? I do not want to pay another $500 for a new one.
Any thoughts?

Permits in my city are good for 5 years. However, you are supposed to demonstrate at least 1/10 progress every six months. The only way to know the answer to your question is to call your building department and ask.
