partition wall running diagonal across joists

im building a partition wall thats running diagonal across the ceiling joists. [i dont know if diagonal is the correct word, the wall is running the opposite of parallel with the joist]

the last 1.5" feet of the top plate of this wall has no joists to connect to because the wall ends between 2 joists. blocking isnt really an option, unless i make an "L" shaped block out of 2 2x4s, but im sure if thats a good idea?

my plan is to connect the end stud of the wall [which will be flush with the foundation] to the foundation with tapcons, and just let the top plate rest on that for added support.

my concern is about 8" from the last stud there will be a door. the door is quite heavy, its a 32" 1 5/8" solid core with a 5/4 stock jamb.

any ideas?

Perpendicular? Either way, you should try and install some blocking between the joists to support the end of the wall. A 2x4 flat and level with the bottom of the joists does the trick very well. Another alternative is to double up the top plate for at least 2 joists before the end.

Which side will be hinged? If it is the 'last stud' side I would make an 'I' stud out of 2 2x4s and a 2x6 or 2x8, whichever is appropriate to your dimensions.

I would also tapcon a 4' ledger to the foundation under the finish floor and place a 2x4 x 2x4 'T' block to the nearest joist. Place the vert part of the 'T' on top of the ledger.

If the hinge is on the other side, I would not worry it and just go with your original idea.

I think you have to add another stud and knee stud here on each side of the door to take the new door frame and also to get the header ED
