basement finished without permit

im just about finished with my basement remodeling and im starting to get worried about not getting a permit.

i made no structural changes to the basement. the basement was finished after the house was built with a owens corning basement finishing system. which i removed and put up sheetrock walls instead.

the only additions i made were adding 3 partition walls, turning the basement into 2 rooms.

some additional electrical modifications were made, but this was only changing fixtures from high hat lighting to track lighting, which is allowed by the town since this isnt running new wires, just changing the fixtures.

my main concerns are if their is a fire or something, the insurance company would get out of paying because my basement was remodeled with a new room. would this even be possible or that would only extend to uninspected electrical mods?

im also concerned because im now considering putting a bathroom down there in an unfinished alcove. which i will be hiring a plumber to do, and in my town you need to get a permit and provide plans before the work can start, which im scared to do because when they come to inspect the "bathroom" area, and notice that theres now 2 rooms im going to get fined. any help?

Do not sweat it. They will not even notice the two rooms. All they will be there for is to inspect the bathroom area. Get that inspected and sleep well at night. Good luck.

You are fine. Do not worry. The changes you have made are fine.

I agree with the other posters here on the subject, since this was done by you, the homeowner, it's doubtful that any permits would have been required for the remodeling.
