De-humidifer In Basement

What humidity level should one go for in a basement or a house for that matter. My concern about putting a de-humidifer in the basement is that it will remove the mosture but it will also draw in excess mosture through the foundation (I have block). Overtime this can create channels for water to seep through.

Is that valid statement

Concrete is porus, so I wouldn't wory about water being pulled through it creating ever larger channels.

The best relative humidity to keep you house at is in the 50% range. Moist enough to be comfortable, dry enough to prevent the growth of mold.
