Basement Problems

We have an old house with a Michigan Basement. The cement is starting to crumble and in some cases has large chunks missing. We are retired and on a limited budget and would like to know if there is anything that we can use that we can do ourselves. We would like to paint after repairs.

If it is any consolulation, you are not alone. A very common problem. It is caused by rotten concrete. Concrete rots over time when dirty sand is used when it is made. Any repairs to concrete basement walls is expensive. Some more then others.
The most common repair is tearing out the bad portion of the wall and replacing with a new footing and block. As a rule at least a section of 10 feet is the minimum. We do alot of these type of walls every year. Also each one is different, so there is not a one fix fixs all. Each is on its own merit.
