R13 or R19 Insulation

R13 or R19 Insulation
When using a 2x4 for the walls how do you figure using a R19 insulation as they are 6.25" thick. Assuming you stay 1" away from the concrete wall it still does not allow enough room. Some one told me that you get R19 which is 3.5" thick. The guy at HD thought I was crazy. My walls at some places will be almost 4-6 inches away to accomodate the waste pipes. Would it be ok to use 6.25" insulation and let it touch the pvc waste pipes? What about the places where I'm 1" away from the wall.

Use the R -13
First on the cement wall I would have hanging a V/B then the 1" to the stud wall With P/T wood for the bottom plate. Now a R-13 is all you need for down in the basement . With paper side to the room. We also put a poly over this then the drywall.

You can have a moisture come off the cement walls and we dont want it to get to the insulation so we hang a sheet on the cement walls 1" space then the inside wall R-13 paper to the room and a poly over that then the drywall.
