water coming in basement

ok guys, here's my problem. water in one corner of my basement---i have a built up concret taper around the edge of the wall with a sump pump in the corner. the far corner away from the sump, water is building up in the drain and over flowing onto the floor. rusty goo in the the drain and the water just will not go to the sump. after playing around vacuuming the water out of the drain i found all the cinder blocks on the bottom row have a hole drilled in them 2 inches up from the floor { i assume so water doesn"t thanks build up in them}. why is water only coming out of that one corner block?? and what sould i do?? thanks

out of the box here to start. First have you worked on the outside of the home any to get the water away from it . Are the gutters all good and cleaned out drain from the downspouts out from the home about 10'

See what a 4 ' level will say on the floor????????
Also see what the level will say if you put it on the wall at one of the block seams. Can the home be going down on that end???
if so.

Lots of things can be it here . Could you put the sump pump in that corner.
Check this all out and get back to us Ok ED

level

ok, level looks good, no signs of settling in the corner. think my drain problem is just dirt. i beleive what they did was put up the ccinder block walls, pour the cellar floor then put slate chips around the wall, put a 1/2 board against wall and build the tapered lip. i think there is so much dust and dirt in the drain lip the it is damning up the water. very cinder block on the bottom row has a 1/2 inch hole drilled in them where the hollow is [i assume so water will not build up in the blocks] they're all dry but the one in that corner. water just runs in it. too wet out to dig down to the foundation to see why water is getting in. guess thats a project as some as the weather permits,,,thanks don

Before you dig, have you looked at the out side like I said. lets try and find why or where the water comes from?

drainin' now

ed,,, took a screw driver and shop vac and cleaned gravel and dirt out of drain. water running to sump just fine now. when it
dries up some outside i'll go out and rake the mulch from around house [about 8 feet] put plastic down and recover with mulch. then extend rain gutter spout out past that.. might be ok without digging. thanks for your ideas. don
