Time for an inspection?

Well after all the questions you all have answered for me, I may be ready for an inspection of a couple of rooms in my basement that I'm finishing. Over the last few weeks, I have had an electrician put in a subpanel for me, and I've ran a couple of circuits. This week, I hooked up the supply lines to the bathtub and sonofagun, that works with zero leaks (and it drains too ).

I need to finish the storage room and the bathroom first so, well, so I can put the rest of the junk in the basement in the storage room. I think I'm at a point where I need an inspector to come in. I had heard that you should call them in before you hook up wiring, put in insulation, drywall, or anything else that might get in their way.

Is this a good point to do the inspection? If so, would they have some kind of checklist I can tick off before he/she arrives?

As always, thanks for everyone's help!
Joe

Every city does it differently. You have to call the inspection department and ask them what inspections they want. At a minimum, they will have two: the first after the wiring and before the insulation and drywall, and the second when you're all finished. Your city may require more. Some want another inspection for the insulation, and some want an inspection to count the screws in the drywall before you tape it. Probably all cities are going to require an inspection before you cover up the wiring.

In short, you don't get to decide the criteria for when an inspection should be done. Your building department does. Ask them.

With John here : I sure hope you called or talked to code there first and found out what they want there where you live. If you needed a permit for the job and what code is for all of this. Id just call and ask about what code is there first.
