Poured basement walls vs. Block Basement walls.

Just wondering what the advantages of either is? I have a new home with poured walls, and was wondering if they need to be sealed to more of a degree or less than block walls.

Poured vs Block

The main advantages of poured concrete walls vs concrete block walls is that poured concrete walls can bear more weight and provide greater lateral strength than block and can do so with a thinner wall.

Block often needs to have rebar inserted in the web spaces and the spaces be fully grouted to achieve the same strength as poured concrete.

This makes poured concrete cheaper and stronger than hollow block in most instances.

Since block foundations are required to have at least 3/8ths" of parging on the exterior before water sealing, there is virtually no difference in performance once they are damproofed or waterproofed.
