Support needed for Attic storage

I have a fink support system for the roof over my garage. 2X4's make up the framework. I would like to put in an attic ladder for a little extra storage but I realize that I do not have the framework to support a load heavier than a few Christmas decorations. Is there anything I can do to sure up the 2X4's so that I can put down a sheet of plywood and then store some trunks and other non-essential items?

Attic storage

Cutting joists to install pull-down ladder is not recommended. Consult with local building inspector. If all you want to store in attic is Xmas decorations, then weight is not an issue and a structural engineer will not be required. A consultation from the local Building Inspector is necessary to guide you in regard to size of opening without damage to joists. Plywood cam be laid across walkway or you can simply walk on joists to place empty boxes.
