Framing Around Drain Pipe

I'm in the process of framing in my basement. I'd like some advice on how to frame around a drain pipe. I think I will need to just kind of box around it. It has a cleanout that I want to frame around and cover with an air grate for future access. I've heard that it's best to use 2 x 6's for this, but I was just wondering if there was a way that I could frame around it with 2 x 4's and be just as good. Do I need to leave a certain amount of room on each side of it?

As long as you have 3" pipe and not 4", you can build 2 sections of wall out of 2x4's and put one on either side. There are no distance limits that I know of, but make sure to leave enough room for the air grate/clean-out cover...notching 2x4's behind drywall suuuuuuuuuuuuuu-tinks

When we had our home re-roofed, the contractor removed the power vent that was mounted to one of the roof vents in the attic. The wires were cut and the power vent removed. I'm leaning toward installing a gable-mounted power vent now because the trapped attic air and lack of adequate insulation in the attic causes the heat pump to run full time when the temp gets over 90 degrees and can't seem to keep up (southern Oregon). My question: Does it matter what gable (southern or northern exposure) I install the power vent on and should I install an intake vent on one gable end and the fan on the other to help air flow? There are intake vents in the front and back of the house at the top of the siding( freeze block area). The wiring for the old vent is closer to the northern (shady side) gable end and on the opposite end of the bedrooms. I would appreciate some guidance.

Two walls of the basement of our 60-year old house are bowing inward slightly. There is evidence of prior cracking that has been sealed, and there is no problem with leakage at this point. Our home inspector suggested bracing the walls with I-beams to keep them from bowing inward anymore, and we would really like to take care of it ourselves before the ground freezes this winter and possibly makes the situation worse. Any suggestions on this method or any other options?
