Vents cut in basement drywall??
A friend of mine said that his contractor cut 12 x 6 vents in the drywall so that the wall could breath. Has anyone heard of doing this? I getting ready to frame my walls and I still don't know the best method. Should I use the plastic vapor barrier or not? Or should I just frame the walls with 2 x 4's leaving a 1/2" gap and fill with kraft face insulation? Thanks

Never heard of that. Hang a 6 mil poly on the wall tack it to the sill plate. build the wall with 2X4 a P/T 2X4 for the bottom plate put it up about 1" out. A R 13 insulation in it paper side to the room. Dont for get to put a block of R 19 in each joist space up there on the sill plate. we put another 4 mil poly over the wall then the drywall.
