Vinyl Flooring Underlay?

Is it possible to install some padding under vinyl flooring throughout parts of an unfinished basement. I am considering possibly a 2 in 1 type of underlayment which I have some left over from a laminate floor install. I'm thinking if I fix the padding to the concrete then loose fit the vinyl flooring this might be ok. I would really prefer laying some type of underlayment for comfort and warmth rather than have the vinyl flooring immediately in contact with the concrete. My question is ......does this make since or should I abandon this idea altogether?.....is there another, perhaps better option?

bad idea

You can not put anything under a vinyl floor. The vinyl needs to be installed over a firm underlayment, whether it be plywood or concrete, If you want to be able to have a warm floor, you have to put in some sort of subfloor, then install some 1/4" plywood good one side, and put your vinyl on top of that.,, or install a heated floor and go with ceramic or laminate. Hope this helps.
