Basement Wall Under I-Beam

I want to frame a 6-foot wall directly under my steel I-beam which is in the middle of my basement. How should I attach the wood-framed wall to the bottom of the I-beam?

Usually you have two options. First, you can use self drilling screws to tap into the i-beam. I haven't had good luck with that option, so I usually just drill holes all the way through and put a bolt and washer in. You should be fine putting a bolt every couple of feet.

Insulation above drop ceiling & between floor joists

Pulled the permits for my basement last week, just doing prep work prior to really starting. This is my 2nd full basement project. I want to get some input on the value / effectiveness of placing insulation between the floor joists in a section of the basement. The room is 11 x 13 and is a jut out from the house (3 exposed sides), it has hardwood floors above on the main floor and of course full basement below, poured concrete walls. The main floor room is a TV entertainment room just adjacent to the kitchen, but it is a North West exposure and is probably the coldest room in the house. The hardwood floor is chilly to the feet. Wondering if placing 10" of insulation between the floor joists prior to installing the drop ceiling in the basment will help with the cold floor. It has been my experience (from my last basement) that the 6" area above the drop ceiling & between the joists get considerably colder than the finished basement temperature. In my last house in the middle of winter that space was probably 10 degrees colder than the finished area. Like my last house, I certainly plan to insulate the rim joist area, & one adjacent to it.
