Basement Project Journal

I know this thread may touch on a few areas that may not be strictly basement ...but it all runs together.
Pictures say a thousand words.
Start of the project...I tore out the walls to expose the block...the original walls were furrowing strips nailed to the block...with sheetrock and no insulation.

I repaired and dryloc’d the walls

Then I built stud walls with pressure treated sole plates keeping them 1" from the outside wall.

With studded walls...my toilet would no longer fit...so I had to move the toilet flange...this ment cutting the floor and re-plumbing the area.

More to follow.....

P.S. note to the moderator...the [img]code would make this easier...can you hook me up?

Here is a link to all the progress, check them out, and post back some comments or questions.
I havent painted the trim yet, and I am looking at flooring tomorrow.

Here is a link to all the pics I have hosted right now.

Ya, you got to dump the [url] at the beginning and end....it would be much nicer if I could just post the link, like I can on other topics on this same forum....but for some reason I cant....sigh....

You should replace the flex duct on your dryer vent with solid pipe. Flex duct on a dryer vent is a fire trap as lint will build up on the inside.

I agree with you on the flex pipe.
I intend to do so soon, I have to remove the washer/dryer one more time to put in the floor, and the next time it goes back it should be for good.
I have the pipe, just dont want to damage it.
The pipe on the dryer right now is flex aluminum, I got that when I ripped the plasic flex that was there before.
What is amazing is how much faster the clothes dry, after removing the lint laiden old pipe.
I can only imagine how much better the dryer will operate with rigid pipe.

Good to hear it is being replaced. The dryer is the worst place to have this stuff. So many people think their dryers are broken...but the problem is the build of lint. It is a waste of energy, which is why I think the use of flex ducts should be banned.
