Lightbulb Progress up to this point...

I have been finishing my basement over the last few months. I posted here quite awhile ago with some general framing questions and received some good replies. I figured I would post a web site that journals the progress of my basement project. Hopefully it may help some who are contemplating finishing their basement. At the very least, some of you may find it interesting. I know one of the frustrating things for do-it-yourselfers is the lack of information and pictures of how others complete their projects. I don't have a ton of information, but I do have pictures

Enjoy

Chris,

Things looking good. However I question what I saw and it bothers me. It appears that you placed the exterior walls right next to the concrete walls - no space.

The other issue is that it looks like you used unfaced insulation and this is obviously touch your concrete. Any condensation that happens down there and not have a 1" void (space) for air movement may cause poor performance of the insulation as it will absorb any moisture.

Is or was this the case?

Thanks for the response

Doug,

Thanks for your response. There actually is a gap between any foundation walls and the studs. In some cases, it may be closer to 1/2 inch than an inch. I did use unfaced insulation followed by a vapor barrier. Any of the wood that is actually in contact with the concrete is treated. Hopefully I will not have any issues. I have had it inspected at every stage and nothing was mentioned (maybe a good thing or maybe a bad thing).
