Help with window well cover replacement

Hello to all,

We bought our second home last year. It was built in 2002 and is beautiful with one exception -- the window well covers. They are not actually window well covers, more like large pieces of plastic. Two are broken and we would like to replace all four. No store has the ones that fit our size -- rectangular, 56x37. Online we find several -- but the cost is crazy! I thought a local glass house cut cut me some plastic or lexan to replace the broken ones. This avenue was more expensive than buying online.

Is there some way to cover the window wells that allows for adequate ventillation but keeps out debris, snow, etc. without REFINANCING MY HOUSE?

Thanks in advance,
James

Unhappy Someone must have built their own covers

Jim, we too are looking for help in building our own window well covers. Over the years we've purchased countless plastic covers, which have all met the same fate.......a mess after a year or two of snow and cold.

Surely someone out there became as frustrated as we are and built their own covers to stop the yearly trek to the building supply store for yet another cover to replace the one wrecked over the winter.

Help! Winter is knocking at our door!!

Shirl
