what to do with crawl space?

I am rehabing a 1900 house in central Indiana & wanted tog et some ideas on what I should do with my crawl. It's about 1000 sqft bare dirt. There are about 5 openings in the old rock foundation. There is only about 12" from dirt to joists. Here is what I am planning. Please add any comments. I'm going to clean up the dirt & dig out & level to get a little more clearance. Lay a 6 mil layer of plastic down taped & lapped joints, & turn it up the foundation walls. Any ideas on how to attach the plastic to a very jagged rock foundation to help seal it off? I would like to also add a few more vent holes, but am unsure of an easy way to knock out a few more rocks from the foundation. I'm shooting for 1 sqft of vent per 150 sqft of crawl, so I would have to add about 5 more vent openings.

Thanks,
Dan

a few questions.

So I don't need any vents at all?

Where can I buy those blankets?

Do I just run the plastic to the foundation wall & then stop it? Not turning it up the wall.

Thanks for the link!
