Humid basement/flooring
Hello.
I purchased my home just over a year ago. It's 9 years old in Nova Scotia, Canada. We do have some very humid days during the summer. In August I noticed some surface mold that is easily wiped off, on a couple doors and on some furniture and stored items. I now have a dehumidifier, and after cleaning have noticed no additional mold. I have never seen any evidence of damp or wet floors. Lately, I have been considering installing some sort of barrier between the concrete and the carpet to help with heat and hoping to prevent mold. Hopefully I find no mold under the carpet. I've heard of some sort of foam vapour barrier on the concrete, and carpet underlay on top of that. Would this suffice, or should I go some other route? Thanks
