I have an older home built in 1910,it is a two bed one bath home.I have three young children and i need more room.I would like to add a large bedroom in the attic and I'am not to sure on where to start the project. Like what kind of structural requirements needed. What planning direction I should work toward, like maybe dormers,or not, what measuresments do I need to take to figure out my best use of space available.any comentswould be greatly helpfull. thank you

Going UP is a lot more expensive than going OUT. Your best bet would be to have a remodel contractor take a look at the house and advise you on what can and can't be done.
