waterproofing basements

I have decided to waterproof my basement instead of replacing the ancient and long drain pipe that used to take what little incoming water there is and send it to our creek out back. There seem to be a lot of different products out there and I am not anxious to spend a lot of money and time on something that may or may not be all that great.

www.radonseal.com/catalog.htm seems to have a good product, but it looks quite expensive. I would like some feedback if possible. Thanks.

As a long time owner of a wet basement in an area of wet basements, it's been my experience that "waterproofing" methods have little success in keeping water out. If the water table is above your basement foundation it is going to find it's way inside unless you provide a method of draining it away from your basement. Curtain drains, sumps, grading etc all help with getting water away from basement walls. Interior wall coatings are much less successful.
