Angry Basement had Carpet, How do I get rubber backing and Glue off Cement?

We had water in our basement, which ruined the carpet. I want to paint my basement floor. Could anyone tell me an easy way to get the rubber backing off the floor and the glue. I have rented a machine for scraping it off, but ther is still some on the floor. I am tired of scraping it off. I have tried amonia and cider vinegar. Please help!!!

Best way is to use an orange (citrus) cleaner. Let it sit on the glue for at least thirty minutes. Then use a 6in scraper to remove rest of glue.

I'd normally use mineral spirits, but the vapor off a citrus cleaner would be a lot easier to tolerate, so I'd think I'd try that first.

I agree with the others. Any solvent based product such as mineral spirits or Methyl Ethyl Keytone needs to be properly ventilated, and all pilot lights extinguished during use. If the orange does the job, it will be easier to tolerate, not only in the basement, but in the remainder of the house as well.
