landscape nails to hold down vapor barrier
When I went under the house a few weeks ago, my knees got banged up on all the rocks and bricks that were used to hold down the barrier. There were also those thin metal hangers that the original crew for the house used--they bent them into a U-shape and then pushed them PARTIALLY into the ground, so of course I kept getting caught by those.
So, when I went down there again last week to fix some of the vapor barrier, and put down new patches of plastic where the old had ripped apart, I decided to take out all of the stones and bricks and U wires, and I used Landscape nails instead. They are flat topped hard plastic nails that go easily into even the hard clay soil around here. AND they hold the vapor barrier completely flat. Makes it much easier to scoot around under there!

Did you overlap the plastic and tape it? Run it up the walls?
I am not so sure that penetrated the vapor retarder with landscape nails is a good idea, as vapor can escape around the nails.
