DIY basement

Hey I'm bouncing around ideas about a new home construction.

Could I save money by buying a used bobcat and digging it out myself, before I call a concrete company, or is it just not worth it?

Thanks for any ideas.

You may have a problem getting a good (low) firm price out of a good contractor without him knowing what you did to the site and what the access is. - Without that many contractors with bump the price for the unknowns.

The same thing happens when the home owner buys the materials and the contractor does not really know what to deal with and what it will cost to make corrections.

If you expect to backfill yourself with the existing material, he is not responsible for the results and moisture control.
