Baseboards!
Just finishing up my basement... Am hiring out the carpet and underlay. Was going to put the baseboards on and paint them before the carpet is laid - what would be the proper height from the floor for the baseboards??
Thanks in advance!

I always lay baseboards after the floor is finished to avoid scuffing the new paint and to ensure proper height. However, if you want to put them in first - leave about a 1/4 - 3/8 gap between the floor and the baseboards to allow the carpet to be slipped under them. Any more than that and the carpet won't look snug - less than that is usually OK as the carpet layer can push the carpet under the edge with his edging tools...

I always use a piece (or 3 or 4) of the baseboard itself as a spacer from the floor. Carpet guys say that is a good space so they can stuff their edge. So probably 3/8" would be good. I use the scrap pieces because they are there.

Awesome... thanks.
The only reason I was going to do them first, is that I was going to spray the walls and trim together before the carpet...
