Smile craw space

I have a craw space under our family room...in the basement..the opening has a small door..this is located in my workshop...what I would like to know if it would be a big deal to remove the door and just leave it open...the craw space is cement block wall and cement floor...the ceiling is insulated...I do use some of the craw space for storage.

I have the same configuration where our living room was added with a crawl space next to the basement and the old basement windows give access. Leaving that access open will allow cold air into the basement during heating seasons, but I do not know of any other problem that might cause.
