Basement HVAC returns
I am finishing my basement. When The house was built the return lines were ran right above a load bearing doorway. I am not able to run them to the floor. my question is if I leave the return vents at the ceiling will this greatly change the feel of the basement. Should I try to get the return lines close to the floor?. Any help is Greatly Appreciated.

Yea, you definitely need to get the returns close to the floor. May be you can provide more info about whats preventing you from tapping into the trunk? Can you tap into the return trunk somewhere?

Is there any way you can cut into the cold air drop by the furnace. That can work for all the basement and be down near the floor. Any doors down there ,cut some off the bottom of them for a 2" up off the floor space.
