Unhappy Our basement is too warm.

Any thoughts on why our basement is too warm? It use to be cool until this summer. Our furnace was just cleaned three months ago.

how much mositure is in the basement.
are you running a dehumidifier? Did it stop working?

You could run your furnace fan 24/7 to circulate the air through the rest of the house.

I just had the chimney sweep here to clean out our heater flue. He discovered that the terra cotta liner has cracked and has moved about 3 inches. Since the hot air is not able to get up the chimney, it is backing into our basement. He gave us an estimate of $3600 to replace the liner with a stainless steel liner.

The price could be o.k., but I would get at least two more estimates. Will the liner solve the whole problem? Is there brick work to be done. Not trying to add to your bills, but make sure you're solving the whole problem. Make sure the company is part of one of the chimney sweep associations -- can't recall names, but should be able to find it easily on google. Good luck!
