Relocating Basement Stairs

I am looking to relocate my basement stairs. They are currently in the middle of a 1200 Sq Ft. Ranch. I would like to move them to the end of the house (kitchen) and have the door be on the floor (Hatch Type) with the stairs beneath the door. Also, the door could be lifted with Hydrulic lifts or something to that effect?? Sounds strange! but there has got to be a way to do this.. Limited space!!! Help.

Welcome to the forums! There will be no code compliant way to make this work. If the floor area is open enough to use a lift type door, it is open enough to construct a stairwell, and do it safely. Of course you will have to figure in reconstructing your joisting system in that space, figuring the space in the basement that will be used for the stair way, and if you will need to build a landing and turn at the bottom or not.
