Drop ceiling.... How low can you go?
Hello,
I heard that you can adjust the hangers from a dropped ceiling so you can save head room? Is this true? I wanted to only go 1 inch if possible from the joists. I heard you can lose 6 inches of headroom with a dropped ceiling BUT you can, if you want and some manual effort, that you can adjust, move up the hangers to only drop 2 inches from the floor joists.

Local codes often have minimum ceiling height requirements for basements, IRC code is 7', min(R305). With that in mind, there are also minimums for dropped ceiling hardware. 1" drop is the min. that the hardware will allow. Armstrong does make a ceiling vinyl track system that will mount directly to the ceiling joists. Available at big box stores.

I was looking into a product called CEILING MAX that sounds like the same as Armstrong. Do you have a link or where i can find some literature on the Armstrong product?
Thanks
