I have a soffit in the basement that has both runs of ductwork inside. The soffit is about 4' X 18'. I'm limited with ceiling height 7' and the space between the duct framing is 4". I need lighting in this area. I'm too shallow for recessed lights but I know they make mini low voltage downlight that puts out 35 watts. I'm just thinking I will need too many. Any other ideas?

I have a very similar situation in the basement that I am working on. The bottom of the soffet with the drywall will be about 6'9" from the ground (much lower than I would like). I need to put some lights under there, but I am not sure what to do about it.
I looked into putting some smaller 4" can lights insted of the larger 6" can lights that I plan on using in the rest of the basement. I am also considering putting some kind of wall sconce on the wall that the soffit connets to rather than an overhead light.
Like you I would also like to hear some additional ideas on how to light this area.
