What to layer over waterproof foundation membrane?

I am in the middle of an addition to my house. It is on a block foundation and I have yet to backfill. I am going to install a waterproof membrane (Paraseal) from the top of the block down to 4" turned out along the footings. I am in need of something to place over the exposed above grade portion of the membrane that can have something along the lines of stucco or cement applied to it for a finished look to the foundation. Any ideas? I thought about some sort of cement backerboard, but I'm not sure how it would hold up being on the exterior and some of it being below grade.

I've done a lot of those membranes but we never used anthing on the exposed block. Don't forget to throw 2 or 3 inches of gravel in the hole before you backfill. It should rest on the footing & in front of it.
