thickness of temporary attic walkway?
I'm doing some blown in insulation soon myself and i need about 30 ft of temporary walkway. I was just going to have 2ft x 4ft pieces and I want to put it down the side of the attic and hopefully the blower will reach to the other side without too much joist walking
after this project ill probably keep the floor down but it likely will never be walked on again, so i really dont need the 'best' wood, just something that will hold me

I have used 1X12 MDF sold as shelving at BigBox cut to fit the situation. When going across the ceiling joist cut just a bit longer then the width to the out side edge of the joists.

i peeked in lowes today, they have 5/8 x 12x 8ft particleboard for 2 bucks. werent many left though, had some kind of sale sticker on.
i dont relish the thought of only 1 ft board, but then again, it's cheap so i may just go back and get it. Plus even if i wind up doubling up to 2ft, it's cheaper than the 2 ft wide stuff
i was gonna put some kind of ruler/stick every so many feet so A. i can tell where the walkway is after i'm done and B. as a height meter for the insulation itself

Particle board isn't known for it's strength. I recommended 1/2" plywood because I know that it is capable of supporting your weight. I'm not sure I would want to walk on 5/8" particle board only 12" wide simply because I don't know if it is strong enough.
If you end up with the particle board, why not double it just to be safe? Falling through the ceiling would suck.
