Electrical panel

Hi everyone,

I have a question concerning my electrical panel in my basement.

It is located in a section of the finish part of my basement. Whoever redid the basement has put paneling right up to the panel. I am not sure whether they insulated right up to the box or not, as I have not looked yet.

If they have, is this bad? I would think that having insulation THAT close to all that electricity is just asking for problems.

Any advice is appreciated!

Brian

Insulation near your electrical panel is not detrimental. Insulation doesn't conduct electricity, and since the insulation is outside the box, and the bare components of the panel are inside, they are separated by the box itself, so no problem.
